The 19-year-old could be an option for Koeman

Konrad de la Fuente is being tipped to get a chance at Barcelona under Ronald Koeman now that Ansu Fati is out of action for four months following knee surgery.

The 19-year-old American is yet to make his first-team debut in a competitive match but did feature in pre-season and looked pretty good in his two appearances.

Konrad’s already been included in several matchday squads this season which certainly suggests he’s in Koeman’s thinking for the future.

Mundo Deportivo report that Koeman is “delighted” with Konrad and could give the youngster more chances now Fati is sidelined.

The report also talks about his “spectacular” progression through the ranks at Barca and note how Koeman singled Konrad out for praise after the pre-season win over Girona.

“We know we have really good young players here. The important thing is being involved in training at a good level and then taking that into these friendly games. If I had to highlight one of the youngsters, I would say Konrad, I am really happy with him. But we also have Pedri, Riqui. We have great a future ahead of us.”

Konrad is right-footed but likes to play on the left wing which does make him a strong candidate when it comes to finding a replacement for Fati.

There are plenty of other options of course for Koeman, but Fati is going to to be out for a long time which suggests Konrad may finally get a first-team chance sooner or later.
