Ronald Koeman wants to hand the youngster his debut

Carles Alena is expected to leave Barcelona and complete a loan move to Getafe this week which could be good news for Ilaix Moriba.

The highly-rated 17-year-old appears to have caught Ronald Koeman’s eye as he has been training with the first team recently.

According to Moises Llorens at ESPN, the departure of Alena could help Ilaix. Koeman and his staff are said to be “delighted” with the youngster and are even thinking about handing him his first-team debut in the near future.

There’s a similar report in Sport on Tuesday too who note that Ilaix has been training with the team for three consecutive sessions and may just find his name in the matchday squad soon.

Meanwhile, Alena looks set to be the first player to depart Barca in January. Talks between the two clubs are reportedly “advanced” and a move could even be completed in the next few days. The 23-year-old will move on loan and the deal will not include a purchase option.
