Barcelona Femeni make history in win over Espanyol
Lluis Cortes’s side continued their rampant form
Barcelona Femeni made history on Wednesday night as the team played a competitive match at the Camp Nou for the first time ever.
The game obviously had to be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic but Barca still made it a night to remember with a 5-0 win over Espanyol.
Lluis Cortes’s side have been in superb form so far this season and extended their 100 per cent record in 2020-21 with yet another dominant win.
Barca had to wait until right until the very end of the first half to score their first goal at the famous old stadium. Alexia Putellas broke the deadlock with a header from a corner.

The floodgates opened after the break as Marta Torrejon doubled Barca’s lead and Melanie Serrano volleyed home the hosts’ third of the night.
Lieke Martens arrived to head home Barca’s fourth of the game before Ana Crnogorcevic wrapped up the scoring to notch the team’s 11th win of the season.
Barca remain top of the table with maximum points and an incredible goal difference. The team have netted 62 goals in 11 games and conceded just two.
