Getafe are close to getting the Barcelona midfielder

Barcelona midfielder Carles Aleñá is set for another mid-season loan, this time to Getafe, according to the latest rumors. The La Masia graduate played half of last season on loan at Betis. He returned in hopes of playing more often this term, but it has not gone that way yet.

Instead, the 22 year old may be headed for another club in search of playing time. No buy option is being considered at the moment, which would mean the midfielder would once again return in June.

Aleñá has only played five matches this season, and has only started one, against Dynamo Kiev in the UEFA Champions League.

It’s understood the player himself wants the move, and Getafe’s admiration of the youngster is well known. Apparently, the Madrid-based club tried to get him after the end of last summer.

There was hope that the arrival of Ronald Koeman and a switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation could help Aleñá gain playing time, but this optimistic prediction has so far proven untrue. It remains to be seen what other moves Barcelona could make during the winter transfer window.
