The Dutchman picked up a goal and an assist

Frenkie de Jong says he wants to keep on improving after playing a starring role in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Elche in La Liga on Sunday.

The Netherlands international scored the opener and then set up the second for Riqui Puig to net his first Barcelona goal in the final few minutes of the match.

De Jong was a happy man after the victory and also spoke about how he feels the team are improving after a tough start.

“I can still play better, but of course I am happy to be scoring and creating goals,” he said.

“Mentally we’re good, we’ve been working hard all year, growing and improving little by little. I hope we continue like this.

“I think since the start of the year we have been a bit better and we have played every game away from home as well, winning all of them in La Liga, so I think we’re a bit better, yes.

“We pressed well I think because they want to come out from the back, so it’s difficult if you don’t press well as a team. We worked hard, it was a tough game and I am happy with the win.”

The win makes it four in a row for Barcelona in La Liga and moves the team up to third. Next up is a trip to Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey before the team finally get to play at the Camp Nou once again versus Athletic.
