A third consecutive away match in La Liga

Barcelona head to Granada on Saturday in La Liga and will be in good spirits after wins on the road against Huesca and Athletic Bilbao.

The team are now seven games unbeaten which has seen them rise to third place in the table in Spain’s top flight.

Next up is another tricky test at Granada, so let’s see how Barcelona might line up:

Defense

Ronald Koeman could stick with the same backline against Granada but does have options in defense if he wants to change things around and freshen things up.

Oscar Mingueza could come back in as part of a three-man central defense or either as a replacement for Ronald Araujo, Clement Lenglet or even Sergino Dest at right-back.

Lenglet is not enjoying his best season at Barcelona but is still ahead of Mingueza in the pecking order for now. Junior Firpo is also available if Jordi Alba needs a breather.

Midfield

Koeman seems unlikely to make too many changes to his midfield although Miralem Pjanic is an option to come back in. Sergio Busquets is the most likely player to drop out in that case with Frenkie de Jong in improved form currently.

De Jong and Pedri are the only two Barca players to have featured in every La Liga game so far in 2020-21 and may need a rest at some point but it would be a surprise if both players didn’t start at Los Carmenes.

Attack

In attack it seems a straight choice between Martin Braithwaite and Antoine Griezmann to join Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele. Griezmann got the nod last time out and picked up his third La Liga assist of the season.

Messi should lead the team out again and it seems likely Dembele could make his third start in a row.

Koeman did admit after the win over Athletic the club need to manage his game time carefully, but the Frenchman was certainly impressive at San Mames on Wednesday.

Possible XI: Ter Stegen; Dest, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; Pjanic, De Jong; Dembele, Messi, Pedri; Griezmann.
