The goalkeeper spoke after Sunday’s win

Marc-Andre ter Stegen admitted that Barcelona must learn to kill games off after Sunday’s narrow 1-0 win over Huesca.

A single goal from Frenkie de Jong was enough for the visitors to take home all three points, although they dominated the play against La Liga’s bottom side.

Ter Stegen was called upon to make some saves in the second half as Barca ran out of steam a little bit, and the German offered his thoughts after the match.

“Winning these types of games is what decides league titles. They are three super important points to start the year well, although it was a very difficult win because we weren’t able to kill the game with a second goal.

“We didn’t know how to kill off the game either in the first half or second half. We have to improve that. Other than that, I think we were very focused, especially in the first 35 minutes where I really liked what the team was doing.”

Barca now head to Athletic on Wednesday for another tricky away match. The Basque side beat Elche 1-0 on Sunday but announced after the match they had sacked coach Gaizka Garitano. Marcelino looks set to take over as coach.
