The defender is crunch game against Sevilla

Gerard Pique hasn’t featured for Barcelona since November because of a knee injury but is closing in on a return to first-team action.

The defender returned to training last week and is reportedly keen to make his comeback in the second leg of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final clash against Sevilla on March 3.

The report reckons that Pique will definitely be back in time for Barca’s trip to PSG in the Champions League on March 10 and could even return ahead of schedule.

Barcelona will head into the game against Sevilla 2-0 down and in need of a big comeback if they are to make it through to the final.

The return of Pique would surely be welcomed given Barca’s defensive problems this season and the injuries they have suffered.

Ronald Araujo is currently sidelined with an ankle sprain, while both Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti have struggled for form.

Oscar Mingueza is also an option at center-back, although injuries to Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto have forced the youngster to fill in at right-back in recent weeks.
