Good stuff from the Barcelona starlet

Ansu Fati has given an interview after being nominated for the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year award and has had some interesting things to say.

The teenager was asked about who was his favorite team-mate and came up with a player who he may just be playing alongside again next season at the Camp Nou.

“Eric García. We have grown up together from young. We’ve played together and he helped me get better. He was very hard to dribble past, and we’ve been ‘at war’ since we were kids. We’ve played together for Spain too, we were always dreaming as kids.”

Of course Fati and Garcia have known each other for a long time and have risen through the ranks together. Garcia is currently at Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola said this week he is set to return to Barcelona.

Fati also spoke about how it was always his dream to play for Barcelona and opened up on what it’s like to play alongside captain Lionel Messi.

“It is a dream to play with the best player in the world and learn from him in training. What advice has he given me? I try to transmit the same humility as he does. Despite all he was done, he is a very simple man, and the advice he gives is always about keeping your feet on the ground.”

Fati has been out of action since November following knee surgery, and it’s still not entirely clear when he will return. What is certain is that it will be great to see him back out on the pitch for Barca and let’s hope it’s not too long until he’s fully fit again.
