The rumor mill is going strong

Liverpool want Pedri

We begin with one of the favorite pastimes of the English media: link Barcelona and Real Madrid players to Premier League teams. This time it’s The Mirror who say that Barça midfielder Pedri is a target for Liverpool, who are having a bad season and are looking for reinforcements to the squad.

Despite having just signed Thiago Alcântara, the paper claims Jürgen Klopp is very interested in signing the 18-year-old Pedri, who could be a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum if the Dutchman joins Barça on a free. But there’s not much truth to this one: Joan Laporta is in love with Pedri and will keep him at the club even if he needs a new, improved contract this summer after just one season.

Carry on.

Neymar ‘feeling the pressure’ from Messi, Barça

The next bit of gossip comes from French newspaper L’Équipe, who claim that Neymar has frozen his contract extension talks with Paris Saint-Germain and is ready to ask for a transfer back to Barcelona if the club express their interest.

Neymar is apparently waiting for Lionel Messi to formalize his decision to stay at the club, and the Brazilian desperately wants to play with the Barça captain again. The paper says Neymar has been pressured “almost on the daily” by Barça and Messi to reconsider his future, but a deal would be hard to complete with Barça’s financial trouble.

Ousmane Dembélé as a trade chip could entice PSG, though they would also want a big fee that Barça can’t quite afford right now.

Sergio Agüero closer to Barça move

Diario SPORT’s front page for Tuesday features Manchester City’s Sergio Agüero, and the Blaugrana are ready — according to the report — to approach Agüero again to try and convince him to join the club on a free transfer.

SPORT says Barça will make a “sensible” offer for the City striker, hoping that he chooses a move to Catalonia over staying in the Premier League. Chelsea have been heavily linked with Agüero ever since his departure from City was officially announced.
