‘We are very satisfied with how everything is progressing’

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered an update on the club’s transfer business and admits it’s a bit of a tricky window for the Catalan giants.

The latest updates have suggested that Barca are set to announce a new five-year deal for Lionel Messi shortly and are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a possible swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann.

Laporta didn’t give much away as usual but insisting things are going well even if this transfer window is a little different for a variety of reasons.

“The professionals are doing their job well. We are very satisfied with how everything is progressing, but you already know that it is a special market that requires patience, skill and sometimes juggling, but I think that as the summer progresses we will be able to deliver good news.”

The departure of Griezmann is expected to allow Barca to register Messi’s new contract but it would be no surprise to see other stars leave too. Miralem Pjanic and Martin Braithwaite are being tipped as potentially the next players to depart the club.
