But will he get a chance next season?

Riqui Puig has reportedly turned down a host of offers this summer and will stay at Barcelona and once again try to force his way into the first team.

The 21-year-old has turned down offers from La Liga clubs Granada and Celta Vigo as well as the chance to move to Ajax, according to Sport.

Bundesliga and Premier League clubs were also keen on landing the youngster but Puig “did not want to go anywhere and rejected them all.”

Barca are said to appreciate his stance and his perseverance but you can’t help feel it’s going to be another tough season for Puig under Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman advised the midfielder to go out on loan last season, and while he stayed he only managed three starts in all competitions.

President Joan Laporta seems a big fan of Puig and reportedly does not understand why he has not had a more prominent role at the club.

Laporta even spoke about Puig and his future at the club earlier this summer.

“For me, he is a player of extraordinary quality, strategic for the club because of his way of playing and his understanding of the game and the philosophy of the club (…) Let him be part of the group to earn his place.”

Laporta made sure Puig, and fellow starlet Ansu Fati, were front and center at the launch of the club’s new home kit, which seemed to be a clear sign that the two players are the future of Barca. Yet Puig still looks to have his work cut out convincing Koeman of his quality.
