Three out of three!

Barcelona trio Alexia Putellas, Lieke Martens and Jenni Hermoso have all been shortlisted for the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year after a phenomenal treble-winning season.

All three players enjoyed key roles for Barca Femeni in an utterly dominant campaign, where Luis Cortes’s side swept everything before them.

The highlight of the campaign was the 4-0 win over Chelsea that earned the team a first Champions League trophy.

Hermoso was the top scorer in the tournament with six goals and also finished top of the charts in La Liga, netting an incredible 31 goals in 26 games.

Martens also enjoyed another brilliant season and ended the campaign with 20 goals and 16 assists, while captain Putellas weighed in with 26 and was on target in the Champions League final too.

Coach Cortes is also in the running as he has been nominated for the Women’s Coach of the Year award. The 35-year-old guided his side to a brilliant treble before stepping down in June. Cortes is nominated alongside Sweden coach Peter Gerhardsson and Chelsea boss Emma Hayes.

The winners of the awards will be announced during the draw for the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League group stage in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday 26 August.
