The Barcelona forward scored twice and assisted once in the first game of the season

FC Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite has posted a defiant message on social media after a two goal, one assist performance against Real Sociedad.

The Catalans cruised to a 4-2 victory in their first match in the post-Lionel Messi era with Braithwaite receiving plaudits as the man of the match,

He has been linked by local media with a move away from the Camp Nou all summer, for the second year in a row.

“Some people like to talk. I do my talking on the pitch,” Braithwaite wrote on his social media accounts.

Braithwaite is coming off a successful summer with his national team, Denmark, in which they unexpectedly stormed deep into the knockout rounds at Euro 2021.

The media speculated that this would increase the asking price Barcelona would receive in a sale to the Premier League, but none of that came to pass.

Last year, he was linked with a move away from the club as well, but it never happened. Braithwaite has always publicly maintained that he wants to prove he’s capable and fight for minutes at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona play Athletic Club this Saturday as they attempt to maintain their perfect record in La Liga in order to improve on last year’s disappointing third-place finish.
