Barça B 0-0 Costa Brava: Recap
Another bad result for Barça B
The slow start to the 2021-22 season continues for Barça B as the home team disappointed and was held to a 0-0 draw against UE Costa Brava at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. Sergi Barjuan’s team played a very good first half but missed big chances, and after a bad second half the home team completed a second straight game without scoring.
FIRST HALF
It was all Barça B in the first half, with the home team dominating possession against a Costa Brava team that parked the bus from the very beginning. Barça needed to be patient but sharp with their passing, and they did just that to create some really good chances.
Nico González absolutely dominated midfield, with and without the ball, and he was involved in everything good that Barça did in attack. He had a one-on-one with the keeper but had his shot saved, and Ferran Jutglà missed a sitter on the rebound. Ángel Rodado also missed a golden chance himself, and Costa Brava keeper Marcos Pérez made a couple of huge saves to keep his team in it.
Costa Brava barely attacked all half but had a good chance late on when Xumetra’s cross found the head of Boris, but Iñaki Peña made a solid save. At halftime, Barça were in full control but couldn’t finish their chances and the result was still up for grabs ahead of the second half.
SECOND HALF
The second half was a tough watch. The pace slowed down even more and Costa Brava looked more and more satisfied with a goalless draw and focused on defending their goal, while Barça struggled to create meaningful chances.
Barça never truly threatened in the final period, and their only good moments came on the left side when Alejandro Balde and substitute Ez Abde combined to try and create good moments, but the rest of the team couldn’t follow their lead and the game crawled to the final whistle.
That’s now two points and one goal scored in the first three games for Barça B, who continue to show good things at times but are unable to sustain pressure and convert the few chances they do create.
Sergi Barjuan still has plenty of time to try and put together a good team, but the early signs are not very encouraging so far.
