Gavi could have minutes against Bayern - Barjuan
The midfielder was only allowed 45 minutes on Sunday
Barcelona B boss Sergi Barjuan has revealed he had to take off 17-year-old midfielder Gavi in Sunday’s draw against Costa Brava because he could be needed in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich are the visitors to the Camp Nou on Tuesday, and Barjuan reckons Gavi could get some playing time against the Bavarian giants.
“I had to change Gavi at halftime. Gavi could have minutes on Tuesday against Bayern and the club’s order is for him to play 45 minutes,” he said, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Gavi made his La Liga debut last time out, coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Getafe and playing the final 17 minutes.
The teenager could now be set for a Champions League debut on Tuesday. It seems highly unlikely he’ll start the match but he could be an option off the bench.
Gavi is one of several youngsters who were named in Barca’s Champions League squad for the 2021-22 season along with Nico Gonzalez, Inaki Pena, Arnau Tenas, and Alejandro Balde.
