The two youngsters are expected to feature on Saturday

Barcelona return to La Liga action for the first time in two weeks when they travel to Andalusia to face Cádiz on Saturday night, and manager Xavi Hernández is expected to give minutes to youngsters and fringe players with next week’s massive games against PSG and Real Madrid in mind.

The Catalans will be without Robert Lewandowski, João Cancelo and Iñigo Martínez due to suspension and other key starters are expected to get a rest, which means Barça Atlètic youngsters and first team reserves could get a rare chance to play in this one.

That includes Brazilian striker Vitor Roque and academy center-back Mikayil Faye, who were specifically named in Xavi’s press conference on Friday. The coach says both will be named in the squad, and suggested Roque will get a rare start up front.

“Faye will be on the list. He’s ready. We are watching and following. There are very prepared footballers. La Masia always bears fruit. Faye, Casadó... but the competition is fierce. I see him prepared, yes.

“Roque is giving us things and tomorrow he will surely have minutes. We have to take advantage and try to get him to understand the position game.”

It’s still unclear whether Faye will start or get some second half minutes, but it would be great to see one of Barça Atlètic’s best players this season get a chance to show his talent and display why he’s already a sought out name in the transfer market.

As for Roque, this is the perfect opportunity to watch the Brazilian play in the center of the attack where he should be once Lewandowski moves on, and he has already displayed plenty of positive signs despite his limited time on the pitch since his arrival.

Barça need a win to keep up with Madrid ahead of next week’s El Clásico, but this is also a very good chance to see the youngsters show why they deserve to be a part of the club’s future.
