He’s back!

Fermin Lopez returned to Barcelona training on Tuesday after being given some time off after helping Spain win gold at the Paris Olympics and being part of the Euro 2024 squad.

The Barcelona midfielder played a starring role for La Roja but is now back to work ahead of the weekend’s clash with Athletic Club.

Lopez’s return will be a big boost for Hansi Flick who is a little short of midfield options at present due to injuries to Gavi and Frenkie de Jong.

The German may also have to cope without Ilkay Gundogan shortly. The veteran is being linked with an exit and looks likely to move on before the window closes.

Barcelona started their La Liga campaign with a 2-1 win over Valencia and face another tricky test next time out against Athletic Club.

The game will see Barca target Nico Williams come up against the club that have chased him all summer long, while Dani Omo (who arrived instead) will be hoping to make his debut.
