The Barça legend gave some inspiring words to the young striker

The undoubted star of Barcelona’s 2024 preseason is Pau Víctor, who has grabbed the opportunity given to him by new manager Hansi Flick with both hands and has become the Blaugrana’s newest young sensation, scoring three goals in the United States tour and earning a real chance to be part of the first team this season after impressing on loan at Barça Atlètic last year.

And as it turns out, one of the people who helped Pau Víctor on his path is none other than Barça legend Pep Guardiola. A video from 2020 on a YouTube channel called Post United has gone viral this week, featuring an interview with Guardiola in which he gives advice to young footballers.

One of those youngsters was Pau Víctor, who four years ago was struggling to break into the starting lineup of Girona’s B team despite feeling his performances warranted more minutes. He asked Pep for advice on how to become a better player, and Guardiola’s answer was pretty inspiring.

“I can’t give you advice on how to improve as a player, I don’t know you and I’m not your coach. But life is about how you face tough moments, and that’s when you show your worth. There are two options: complain about it or show them. It’s about Pau and nobody else.”

That’s some great advice on self-belief and hard work in the face of adversity, and it’s even better considering the path that Pau Víctor’s career has taken in the last four years. He has gone from a struggling bench warmer at Girona’s academy to scoring two goals in El Clásico, and might be just starting a bright career at the world’s greatest club.

Pau Víctor has certainly showed them.
