García Pimienta ‘convinced’ Ansu ‘can be the great player he was before’
A vote of confidence in the youngster
Sevilla boss Francisco Javier García Pimienta has said he’s “convinced” Ansu Fati can get back to his very best after Sunday’s defeat to Barcelona.
Fati started the match, after Eric Garcia picked up a knock in the warm-up, but struggled to make much of an impact for the Catalans.
However, García Pimienta - who knows Fati from his time with Barcelona - says the forward has all the attributes to make it back to the top.
“I am very convinced that he will be the great player he was before, he is a competitive animal and works hard,” he told Sport
“Ansu is a great footballer, we already know that, I know him very well from his time in the youth and reserve teams and nothing comes from the misfortune of the injury, which in the end conditions a lot.
“He comes in, there is the competition that there is at Barça but I am convinced that he will be the great player he was before, he is a competitive animal and works hard.”
Barca boss Hansi Flick also backed Fati after the match, but it remains to be seen how much game time he’ll see at the club this season due to the competition for places.
