The forward returned in the summer

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club paid out €47 million to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

Olmo returned to the club in August on a six-year deal on a contract that contained a buyout clause set at €500 million.

Barca didn’t confirm the price at the time, but Laporta has offered an update while speaking at the club’s General Assembly on Saturday.

“We have had restraint in investments. Our sporting director has done very well and the only investments have been Olmo and Pau Víctor,” he said in his opening speech.

“We were talking about around €50 million for a major investment and Olmo cost us €47 million.”

Olmo and Victor were Barca’s only arrivals during the summer, although a host of players returned from loan spells away from the club including Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre and Eric Garcia.
