Ansu Fati gets Barcelona recall after Dani Olmo injury
But his future still looks uncertain
Hansi Flick has recalled Ansu Fati to his Barcelona squad for Tuesday’s Champions League tie with Benfica after Dani Olmo was ruled out through injury.
Olmo is expected to miss Barcelona’s next two games with a calf strain and Fati has now taken his place in the squad.
Flick had left Fati out of his last two matchday squads, prompting further speculation about his future at the club.
The rumor mill seems to think that Barca could sign Marcus Rashford on loan in January but can only do a deal if Fati and Eric Garcia depart.
Eric is wanted by Girona, with Quique Carcel having admitted as much, and a deal could potentially be done before the window closes.
Yet it’s been reported that Fati doesn’t want to leave, despite being left out by Flick recently, and his recall may now strengthen his desire to stay.
