Kounde pokes fun at VAR after Barcelona win

The defender reacted on social media

Jules Kounde enjoyed himself on Wednesday for Barcelona against Real Betis, scoring in the 5-1 Copa del Rey win.

Yet the Frenchman really should have bagged a brace. Kounde smashed home a fine goal after a pass from Lamine Yamal but saw it chalked out by VAR.

It was the narrowest of narrow offsides - as we saw later from the images - and Kounde clearly couldn’t believe it either.

The defender took to social media with a picture of the offside and a message to his boot manufacturers adidas: “We may need to change the shape of my preds.”

Betis had the officials to thank for keeping the score down on a night when Barcelona were simply unplayable at times.

Yamal also had a goal ruled out for a tight offside decision but went on to score Barcelona’s fifth goal in any case as Hansi Flick’s side cruised into the quarter-finals.
