Not impressed

Barcelona vice-president Elena Fort has admitted the club are pretty baffled, yet not surprised, to see Vinicius Jr handed a two-match ban for his latest red card.

The Brazilian was sent off against Valencia for slapping goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski in the head and then had to be carried off the pitch by Antonio Rudiger as he raged at the ref.

It’s now been confirmed Vini will miss just two matches, something Fort has told RAC1 is simply not right.

“This is what Barça faces every time they have to act. I don’t understand it, it’s not proportional, it’s obvious. This is what we have to face,” he added.

Barcelona’s frustration stems from the fact Robert Lewandowski was handed a three-match ban for touching his nose against Osasuna, while Hansi Flick also received a two-match suspension recently for having the temerity to throw his hands up in the air in frustration.

Vinicius Jr will now sit out games against Las Palmas and bottom side Real Valladolid in La Liga but is free to play at the Super Cup.
