The change has now been made

Barcelona Atletic have confirmed that Sergi Mila has taken over as manager of the team after Albert Sanchez stepped down.

It’s been a tough season for the team and Sanchez’s job has been hanging by a thread for a little while now.

A decision has now been made, with Mila taking over. Here’s the club’s official statement:

“Sergi Milà will be the new coach of Barça Atlètic until the end of this season. The current coordinator of 11-a-side football in the Blaugrana youth football structure replaces Albert Sánchez , who will now rejoin the club’s technical structure.

“Sánchez was assistant coach of Barça Atlètic alongside Rafa Márquez for two seasons, and last summer he took over the team as head coach. He will now continue to be linked to the Club, with new functions within the technical structure.”

Mila has been part of the club’s youth set-up for more than 20 seasons and has coached a host of different age groups including the Juvenil A side.

His first game in charge will be on Sunday against Gimnàstic and he’ll be hoping to return the team to winning ways after a tough run of results.
