A great performance from Hansi Flickā€™s side

Barcelona go three points clear with 10 games to go

Barcelona made light work of Osasuna on Thursday night to move three points clear at the top of La Liga on a very good night for Hansi Flickā€™s side. With just 10 games left to play, itā€™s definitely the place to be.

Despite all the controversy surrounding the timing of the fixture, Barca got down to work quickly and were 2-0 up and in control after just 21 minutes.

The hosts conjured up a beautiful opening goal, scored by Ferran Torres, before Dani Olmo doubled their lead from the penalty spot on the second attempt.

Barcelona were playing some really terrific stuff - even Sczcesny was balling at the Estadi OlĆmpic LluĆs Companys.

Olmo then wandered off after picking up another injury but Barcelona went on to add a third - another terrific goal headed home by Robert Lewandowski - to seal a very comprehensive win and an important three points.

A brutal schedule still awaits Barcelona but on a night when some key players were rested and other had only just returned from international duty, the players put on a show full of energy and flair to take a big step forward in the title race.

Ferran Torres enjoying his best season

Ferran Torrres was given the nod ahead of Robert Lewandowski and once again delivered the goods, scoring the opening goal for his 14th goal of the season in all competitions.

All if which means that Ferran is not just in his best season for Barcelona ā€“ itā€™s actually his best season during his spells across Europe with Barcelona, Valencia and Manchester City.

Thatā€™s not the only stat that will make Ferran smile. Not counting penalties, heā€™s also scored the same number of La Liga goals this season as Vinicius Jr - and with 1,000 minutes less playing time.

Ferran has more than able deputy for Lewandowski this season and will expect to add more goals and assists to his tally before the campaign is out.

His fine form also comes at a time when a contract extension is being talked out. If the Spain star can continue banging in the goals then it seems certain the club will look to secure his future.

Dani Olmoā€™s injury brings frustration and opportunities

The only sour note from Thursdayā€™s win was the sight of Dani Olmo wandering off early with yet another injury problem. It didnā€™t appear too serious but does look set to rule him out for the next two or three weeks.

Flick took aim at the timing of the game for Olmoā€™s latest issue, but a look at the Spain starā€™s injury record simply highlights his fragility which will be a frustration.

Barcelona appear to have solved Pedriā€™s physical issues this season. The big challenge now is whether they can do the same thing for Olmo and get him playing more regularly.

In the meantime, his absence does offer opportunities. Gavi and Fermin Lopez are likely to be the main beneficiaries and both players shone against Osasuna.

Barcelona fans were also treated to the rare sight of Pablo Torre enjoying some first-team minutes. And he did his hopes of more chances the world of good with a lovely ball to free Fermin for Barcelonaā€™s third goal.

With fixtures coming thick and fast - and Olmo now joining Casado on the injured list - Flickā€™s midfield selections should make for interesting reading.
