Blow for Barca as Kounde forced off injured against Inter
Bad news for the Catalans
Barcelona were hit by an injury blow as Jules Kounde was forced off injured in the first half of Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Inter.
Kounde started the game at right-back as usual but picked up a knock just five minutes before half-time and was replaced by Eric Garcia.
Hansi Flick will now be sweating on the Frenchman’s fitness and hoping he’s not set for too much time on the sidelines.
Kounde has been a virtual ever present for Flick this season - apart from when he’s been late for team meetings - and hit the winner in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.
Flick does have other options, with Hector Fort available to play at right-back, while Ronald Araujo could also fill in if Kounde is sidelined.
The Barcelona boss is likely to be quizzed on Kounde’s fitness after the game, so let’s hope it’s not a serious problem and he’ll be back soon.
