Lewandowski explains why he’s not joining up with Poland squad

The striker needs a break
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has revealed he will not be joining up with the Poland squad for upcoming fixtures against Moldova and Finland.
The 36-year-old forward has written a message to fans on social media and explained he needs a rest after a long season with Barcelona.
“Dear fans! Due to the circumstances and the intensity of the club’s season, the coach and I have jointly decided that I will not participate in the Polish national team’s training camp in June. Playing in red and white has always been a dream come true for me, but sometimes your body gives you a signal that it needs a temporary rest.
“I support the players with all my heart and believe we have beautiful moments and many goals to achieve. See you soon!”
Poland face Moldova in a friendly and then face Finland in World Cup qualifying at the start of June.
Lewandowski, however, will now enjoy a rest after his best-ever season for Barcelona which has seen him win three trophies and score 42 goals in all competitions.
