‘Very ugly’ - Masip ‘very disappointed’ in Athletic Club fans
Not happy
Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s advisor, Enric Masip, hit out at Athletic Club supporters after the team’s 3-0 win at San Mames on Sunday.
Athletic players gave Barcelona a guard of honor before the match, although supporters were heard whistling and jeering the players as they walked out.
The situation did not go down well with Masip who took aim at the fans and their behavior after the game.
“Let me say that I am very disappointed with the fans of Bilbao, for whistling the guard of honour, for not congratulating the president, who I think we deserve and the league we have played. I have found it very ugly. The truth is, we don’t deserve it,” he tol El Chiringuito TV.
Barcelona did go on to claim all three points and make it a great end to the season. Robert Lewandowski bagged a brace, while a late penalty from Dani Olmo finished the job.
