‘We already have Lewandowski’ - Deco says Barca not after Gyokeres
The Catalans aren’t looking for a new striker right now
Barcelona sporting director Deco has been asked about Viktor Gyokeres and whether his club are interested in the Sporting star.
Deco gave the answer short shrift and insisted the club aren’t looking for a new No. 9 at present because they already have Robert Lewandowski.
“I’m not going to talk about the transfer market here, because it’s not the right time. I came to talk about something else,” he told A Bola.
“He’s a great player, who has scored a lot of goals in recent years at Sporting, but at the moment we’re not looking for that position. We already have Lewandowski to play at number 9, so it’s not a position we’re looking for.”
Barcelona have previously been linked with Gyokeres but seem to be focusing on signing a goalkeeper and a winger in the current transfer window.
As for Gyokeres, he could well be on the move this summer after a stellar season wh3ere he scored 39 goals in just 33 league games for Sporting.
