Barcelona come up with Plan B to register Joan Garcia ahead of start of La Liga season

Barcelona are racing against time to register new signings for the 2025-26 La Liga season, with goalkeeper Joan Garcia thought to be the priority.

The Catalans are hoping that they can use part of Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s salary to register Garcia but are will awaiting the green light from the authorities after sending in the German’s medical report.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca do have a Plan B up their sleeves to ensure Garcia can play against Real Mallorca this weekend.

The club are considering using a personal guarantee from Joan Laporta to solve this situation, something they have done previously with Jules Kounde.

Barcelona have already explained this to Garcia’s agents but are hoping they won’t have to register him in this way. However, with time rapidly running out it’s a scenario that is very much alive right now.

Garcia did speak about his registration after the Gamper Trophy and insisted he wasn’t worried: “The club and those around me are reassuring me about the registration. I’m focusing on the day-to-day, and I assume it will happen.”

All being well, Garcia will be available on Saturday, one way or another.
