Chelsea plotting €50m bid for Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo after losing Levi Colwill to injury

Chelsea are reportedly planning a bid for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo after losing Levi Colwill to a serious knee injury.

Colwill has had surgery on an ACL injury and has been sidelined for a long period in what is a big blow to the big-spending Blues.

Chelsea have already splashed out heavily this summer, bringing a host of players to the club in a bid to challenge for the Premier League title.

A new ‘exclusive’ from Football Espana claims that Araujo is in the club’s sights as a replacement for Colwill.

The report says Chelsea are willing to pay €50m for Araujo and think Barcelona will accept due to their continued financial issues.

Whether Araujo will accept remains a different matter.

He said on the club’s pre-season tour he’s staying at the club and is likely to have more prominence in 2025-26 after Inigo Martinez’s exit.
