Pedri on another level in stunning start to the season with Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been simply head and shoulders above the opposition in the early weeks of the season.

His performances have seen him described as a “combination of Xavi and Iniesta” – while Hansi Flick admitted “he’s a crazy player” after Barcelona’s win over Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, social media is awash with clips of Pedri’s outrageous skill, with his brilliant control and dribble against La Real the latest video doing the rounds currently.

The stats only highlight just how impressive Pedri has been and how the 22-year-old is simply a cut above the competition across Europe at the moment.

Simply put, he has completed more passes and more final third passes than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

On a slightly more worrying note for Barca fans, he’s also barely had a break so far in 2025-26. He’s started all seven La Liga games, the Champions League win over Newcastle and two World Cup qualifiers for Spain.

Pedri will surely start again on Wednesday in the Champions League clash with Pedri where he will once again be vital to Barcelona’s chances of victory over the defending champions.

Flick reluctance to rest Pedri is understandable, particularly given his outstanding form, and it’s difficult to see him getting a breather anytime soon.
