Hansi Flick says Lamine Yamal can still get to another level at Barcelona
Lamine Yamal put in another impressive showing on Saturday night as Barcelona eased to a 3-1 win over Elche in a La Liga.
The teenager scored his ninth league goal of the season against Eder Sarabia’s side and walked off with another MVP award.
Hansi Flick was happy to see the youngster star again for his side but thinks he can still improve even further.
“He’s important for the team and the club. He’s also young enough to improve and take his game to the next level. He was very important for the team today,” he told reporters.
“I usually prefer to talk about the team, but it’s important that he’s playing at this level. He creates space for us, he creates chances. I’m happy.”
Flick also spoke about the importance of the win, although he did feel his side should have scored more after coming up with a host of chances.
“We played a fantastic game except for the last third. We created chances. I congratulated the lads on the three points and on their overall performance,” he said.
“It was important to win here. We had many chances; we need to score more, but we are creating chances. We deserved to win, and this is the style of play we want. It’s 90 minutes, and it’s easier when you score more goals. Our focus is on winning matches, and the team is doing well.”
Barcelona now switch focus back to the Copa del Rey and a quarter-final tie with Albacete.
