Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is expected to sign a new contract at the club in the wake of Joan Laporta’s election win.

Flick has made it clear he’s happy at Barcelona and is in no rush to sign a new contract. He also said in December that he wanted to see the outcome of the elections before making a decision.

“I’m here because of the president, and it’s important to have his confidence,” he said. “For me, another year and a half is fine, but it also matters to me whether the president is still here. If we play well and are successful, that’s important.”

Laporta has already said he’s happy for Flick to stay for as long as he wants, and it seems a contract extension will now be something that is worked on following the election win.

According to Diario Sport, Flick has already spoken with Deco about a new contract and everything is “practically agreed” between the coach and the club.

Flick’s current deal runs until 2027 and it’s likely he will renew for another 12 months. After that, Sport say he may decide to walk away from Barcelona after four years as manager.
