Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has reportedly emerged as an option to be the next manager of Premier League side Chelsea.

The Blues parted company with Enzo Maresca at the start of the year and replaced him with Liam Rosenior. Yet Rosenior didn’t even last four months in the role before becoming the last manager to be booted out of the door.

According to The Independent, Xavi is “under consideration” to be the next manager as they want a coach who can instil an identity at the club that runs from the first team right through the club’s youth teams.

Xabi Alonso, Franceso Farioli and Cesc Fabregas are also believed to be in Chelsea’s thoughts, while Andoni Iraola’s name has also been mentioned.

Xavi has been out of work since leaving Barcelona and has said he’d love a “project” for his next job, while also admitting he’s keen on working in England.

“I’d love to work in the Premier League because I love the passion there. In Spain, it’s too much about the result,” he told The Athletic last year.
