Alen Halilovic Bundesliga loan not agreed; Sporting move now likely
Alen Halilovic was supposed to go to Germany. It didn't work, so he might stay in Spain.
The 19-year-old Croatian attacking midfielder was very close to a deal with Bundesliga's Hamburger SV, but a clause on the loan contract hurt the agreement. Barça was demanding that Halilovic played at least 60% of the German club's matches; Hamburger didn't agree to that, so both teams decided to shut down negotiations.
And the original team where Halilovic was supposed to go is back on the mix. Sporting Gijón, fresh off being promoted to the first division, has resumed talks with the Catalan giants to finally reach an agreement. That's according to the club manager, Abelardo Fernández.
“I’ve spoken with Halilovic to tell him what I expect from him. Now, it’s up to him.
“He’s a player who will add something that we don’t already have in the squad.
“If he comes then I’ll be delighted, but if he doesn’t then I’ll wish him the best of luck wherever he goes."

Sporting and Barça have two weeks to strike a deal, but the desire from both parties is to sign a contract as soon as possible, so Halilovic can be with his new team before the start of La Liga, next weekend.
