Barça need to score four on Monday night if they are to pull back the deficit from San Mamés, but it won’t be the first time the have come back from a big first leg defeat in the competition – as recently as 2010 Leo Messi led the side to a famous second leg win over Sevilla after losing at the Sánchez Pizjuán.
Kanouté double puts Barça on the back foot
In the first leg, Barça had got off to a great start when Ibrahimovic put them ahead after just eight minutes, but pre-season fitness levels took their toll as Seville, with goals from Luis Fabiano and Kanouté (2) turned the game on its head in a frantic 20 minute spell to take a 3-1 lead into the second leg.
Messi hat-trick settles fightback
A week after that defeat, the Camp Nou got right behind the team and the players responded with a brilliant fightback. The comeback began on 14 minutes when Konko put through his own goal and when Leo Messi beat Palop with a low drive ten minutes later, it was advantage Barça. With another strike before the break and a late third for his hat-trick, the Argentinean ensured another trophy made its way to The Camp Nou. Seven of the players who took part in that win should be in the squad on Monday: Alves, Piqué, Busquets, Messi, Pedro, Iniesta and Adriano
