Sergio Busquets on second leg draw: "We tried everything right until the end"

Tough night for Barcelona with a draw that wasn't enough to win the Spanish Supercup that went to Athletic Bilbao. One undeniable thing, however, is how much the Blaugrana team competed until the very last second of the match.

One of those men is defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets. Despite having a quiet night, the team's fourth captain gave a tremendous effort to hold the defense together, especially after Gerard Piqué was sent off for insulting an assistant referee. In the last minutes, when almost every Blaugrana went forward trying to get a goal, it was Busi's job to block every counter-attack from the opponents, and he did time after time.

Talking to the media after the match, Sergio talked about the effort from the Catalan side, and congratulated the champions for winning their first trophy in 31 years. Here's a few highlights from Busi's post-match quotes:

"We tried everything right until the end but it wasn’t to be. I think the game was decided in the first leg and I can only congratulate Athletic for winning the title"

"We scored in the first half and created chances. We started the second half well, we were on fire, but Piqué’s red card changed the game because it was as good as impossible with us a man down"
