First away win (1-3) for Barça Women

The women's team pick up their first win of the season with goals from Jenni Hermoso (2) and Patri Guijarro

The Barça Women’s team have got their league campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 win away at recently promoted UDG Tenerife. Xavi Llorens’ side picked up their first three points of the season as they look to record a fifth consecutive league title.

It took the women just five minutes to get themselves ahead, Jenni Hermoso opening the scoring after a good move involving Alexia and Bàrbara. The blaugranes dominated possession and Olga Garcia almost doubled their advantage with an effort from outside the box. The same player then had a chance cleared off the line before Tenerife levelled things up just before the break with a goal from Sara Tui.

Double strike for Jenni

In the second half, Barça had to wait until the hour mark before they could threaten Tenerife’s goal. Olga Garcia shot just wide from distance again before Patri, a second half substitute for Bàrbara, gave the visitors the lead back with a spectacular volley.

Laura Ràfols almost added a third and then Jenni Hermoso did finally make it 3-1 with just eight minutes remaining courtesy of a well placed header to give the Barça Women’s team their first league victory of the season.
