The derby between Barça B and Espanyol B certainly did not lack goals . In a vibrant encounter goals from Gumbau and Aitor Cantalapiedra were not enough for even a point in the blaugranes second away game of the season.
There were four goals in the first half alone, Espanyol going ahead twice and Barça pulling it back twice in the opening 45 minutes. Dalmau gave the home side the lead from a header but the blaugranes struck back with a Gumbau volley from the inside the penalty area. Gerard López and his side had little time to celebrate as Dalmau with a poacher’s goal from inside the six yard box put Espanyol back in front. Nevertheless, just before half time Aitor finished off a cross from Cámara to make it 2-2 at the break.
A less frenetic second half saw fewer chances and fewer goals. It look as though the blaugranes might well earn a point but with quarter of an hour to go, Espanyol B grabbed the winner with an impressive effort from Marc Navarro. Barça tried to come back for a third time but Dongou was denied by keeper Andrés and the home side hung on for victory and all three points.
