Report: Celta Vigo star winger set for January move to Barcelona
IT'S HAPPENING, YOU GUYS.
According to widespread reports from Catalan radio and newspapers, Barcelona will sign Celta Vigo star winger Nolito once the transfer window opens in January. The 28-year-old will request a move away from his club, and has only one destination in mind: a return to Catalonia.
The 28-year-old join Barça B six years ago, and while coached by current Blaugrana manager Luis Enrique, was a key member of the team that promoted itself to the second division with 12 goals in his second season with the youth squad. He then had a brief stint with the senior squad before moving to Portugal and playing for Benfica for a few seasons.
He joined Celta Vigo in 2013, and once again played under Luis Enrique. He was the team's top scorer in his debut season, and became the man in the following one, establishing himself as one of La Liga's best under-the-radar playmakers. His great performances also earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team last year. He has had an even better start to this campaign, scoring in every league game so far, and he was the star of Celta's 4-1 destruction against Barça just two days ago.
Nolito was strongly linked with a transfer back to Camp Nou over the summer, but because of the Catalan giants' transfer ban, he decided to stick around and keep playing with Celta for six months. He has a €30 million release clause in the new agreement he signed with the Celestes, but he'll only cost €18 million if the team interested in his purchase is Barcelona.
So there you go, Blaugranes. Looks like there's no escape from this. Nolito is coming. Just wait two months.
