Barcelona and Las Palmas agree to cancel Sergi Samper’s loan after injury

Barcelona and Las Palmas have agreed to cut short Sergi Samper’s loan deal after the midfielder suffered an awful injury that required surgery.

Samper was hurt during Las Palmas’ clash with Eibar in early January and suffered a fractured fibula and ruptured ankle ligaments.

The 23-year-old went under the knife in Barcelona and will now continue his recovery with Ernesto Valvderde’s side.

It’s still unclear exactly how long Samper will be out of action for but Las Palmas have wished him well for the future.

“UD Las Palmas would like to thank Samper for his excellent behavior and professionalism during his time at the club as well as wishing him luck, both personally and in sports.”

Samper managed just three appearances for Las Palmas, two in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey and his injury is a real blow.

Hopefully he can recover quickly and get back to playing football as soon as possible.

Get well soon Sergi!
