Valverde’s Barcelona as good as Guardiola’s - according to the stats
Barcelona’s unbeaten La Liga record is still standing, but it was placed in serious jeopardy on Sunday night against Alaves.
John Guidetti put the visitors in front and they had the better of the chances until Luis Suarez finally equalised with a little under 20 minutes to go.
A superb Lionel Messi free kick then ensured Barca would take home all three points to maintain their unbeaten record.
The win means that Valverde’s side have now equalled their best ever La Liga start - achieved under Pep Guardiola in 2009/10.
