Barça 0-0 Getafe: Frustrating
Well, that wasn’t fun...
Barcelona are still unbeaten in La Liga, but they had a shocking result on Sunday’s match against Getafe at Camp Nou: the Blaugrana played quite poorly for 90 minutes and just could not find a breakthrough, and a goalless draw doesn’t exactly hurt the league leaders, but gives Atlético Madrid a little bit of hope in the title race.
FIRST HALF
Getafe are a very good defensive team, and they proved it perfectly in the first 45 minutes of this game: the visitors were incredibly organized and basically shut down the Blaugrana, who did a decent job of getting the ball close to the box but just could not find an opening.
As well as having a great defensive structure, Getafe were also dangerous on the counter and had the best chances of the half. Ter Stegen was the busier of the two goalkeepers, and the only time Barça were able to find a shot on target was when Luis Suárez was offside after a Lionel Messi cross and had his goal correctly disallowed.
At halftime, a poor performance from Barça needed a lot of improvement to get three points.
SECOND HALF
The second half was pretty much a mirror image of the first, with Getafe defending very well and Barça having a lot of trouble putting together decent passing combinations in front of the box. The only scoring chances came on headers from Luis Suárez and Yerry Mina, but the Getafe goalkeeper made some really smart stops.
Barça sent everybody forward in the final minute looking for a winner, but like the rest of the game they just could not find the back of the net. A 0-0 draw is not the worst result in terms of the table, but it’s obviously not what we wanted. But it happens, and we move on.
