Barcelona 0-0 Espanyol (4-2): Cillessen the hero in Catalan Super Cup | Sport

A stellar performance from Jasper Cillessen helped Barcelona beat Espanyol and win the Catalan Super Cup on Wednesday. Cillessen made a number of saves in normal time as the final ended goalless and then saved from Jose Manuel Jurado as Barça won 4-2 on penalties.

Paco Alcacer, Sergi Palencia, Yerry Mina and Abel Ruiz all scored from the spot for Ernesto Valverde’s side. More here.

Denis Suárez has a groin muscle problema in his left leg and he is awaiting tests to discover the exact extent of the injury. The Galician midfielder was injured during the first half of the Catalan Super Cup game against Espanyol and was replaced by Barça B’s Christian Rivera after 43 minutes. More here.

Arthur can be Barcelona’s next Iniesta, claims Gremio director | Goal

Negotiations are well underway for 21-year-old Arthur, and though a transfer is not expected to take place until January 2019, the Catalan side rate the youngster highly. Indeed, a €30 million fee has been mooted for the midfielder, with scope for another €10m to be sent to Brazil by way of bonus payments.

Greenwich-born McGuane was among the 12 players selected from Barca B, and the former Arsenal midfielder became the first Englishman to represent the first team since Lineker in 1989 when coming on as a second-half substitute at the Camp d'Esports in Lleida.

McGuane moved to Barca B for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal - with an option to a further two years - which features a buyout clause of €25m (£22.4m). More here.
