Cerezo thinks Griezmann will stay at Atletico
Another day and another update on Antoine Griezmann’s future and this one comes straight from the Atletico Madrid president.
The 70-year-old was understandably in buoyant mood after watching his team secure a place in the Europa League final on Thursday as they beat Arsenal 2-1 on aggregate.
After the game he was inevitably quizzed about his star man who put in a good display against Arsenal and set up Diego Costa for the only goal of the match.
Cerezo was asked about the forward’s future and said “I think Griezmann will be here next year.”
Which is not too surprising as over the last few months whenever he’s been asked about the Frenchman he’s insisted he will stay at the club.
The most recent reports have claimed that Barcelona met with Griezmann’s sister and agent Maud recently. Catalunya Radio reckon Barca are drawing up a five-year deal and are ready to pay his €100 million release clause.
