Mina says he’d like to return to Barcelona in the future

The defender says leaving is bittersweet

Yerry Mina’s short time at Barcelona came to an end this week, as he moved to Premier League side Everton on a five-year deal.

It may not be the last we see of Mina in a Barcelona shirt, as the club have confirmed they inserted a buy-back clause into the deal.

Reports reckon it might cost €60m for Barcelona to bring Mina back. The defender says he would like to return to the Camp Nou.

“Yes, obviously, Barça is wonderful and I would like to be here forever. The colleagues, the technicians, the assistants ... thank each one of them,” he said.

“Now I have to focus on Everton, which is now my club and I’m going to fight to the death for him because he has shown me his confidence.

“I leave with a bittersweet taste because I wanted to show what I have and I have inside me, unfortunately it did not happen, but that’s football and now I’ll have to do it in this wonderful club that is Everton.

“The truth is that I am grateful to God and I leave quietly because I tried to always contribute my bit, I always tried to help on and off the field.”

Mina will now hope he can make an impression in England under Marco Silva. The Toffees have had a busy summer bringing in Richarlison, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Bernard and Mina.
