Valverde talks Dembele, Vidal and Riqui Puig

The boss has given his view

Ernesto Valverde was back facing questions from the press on Saturday, as he held his pre-match press conference ahead of the Supercopa de Espana.

As usual there were plenty of interesting topics up for discussion and Valverde spoke about several of his players. Here are the best bits.

Valverde on Ousmane Dembele

“I don’t know if there’s an option or not [for him to leave]. But I am the coach and I continue to count on him. I am not thinking players could leave.”

Valverde on Arturo Vidal

“Vidal will be called because we are going to go to Tangiers. He has not played for a few months due to injury, but we trust that his integration will go as it has been without problems. Of course he will play, but not sure if he can for 90 minutes.”

Valverde on signings

“We’re good with what we’ve got. It’s evident we’ll be alert to what could happen in the transfer market but we’re happy how we are and we haven’t asked for anyone else.

Valverde on Riqui Puig

“My thoughts of him have not changed because of the media noise.

”He has great qualities, knows exactly how we play and he has rhythm but everything takes a while.

”We have high hopes for him and are looking forward to seeing how he performs in a game that is not a friendly.”
