Rakitic: Spain are perfect opponents for 100th cap

The midfielder is looking forward to the game

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is set for a pretty special evening on Tuesday, as he is set to win his 100th international cap against Spain.

Rakitic is looking forward to the match in Alicante, where he will come up against plenty of familiar faces.

He also faces former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and says Spain are the perfect opposition on his big night

“I can not believe it, I am happy and proud to have reached this number, you can not choose a better opponent than Spain for this game,” he said.

Rakitic also spoke about Sergio Busquets as well as Lionel Messi and Luka Modric.

“We all know he [Busquets] is the best pivot in the world. He has been at the highest level for years and it has been a pleasure being able to play for four years by his side. He makes others better.

“Messi is the best player in history. Even little kids know that. However, this year Modric deserves all the awards.”

Croatia take on Spain in their first game of the UEFA Nations League. Spain already have three points in the bag after beating England in their opener. The match kicks off at 8:45 CET at the Estadio Martinez Valero
